Who We Are

What is ewa4ewa?

Beginning June 2017, ewa4ewa.com will serve as a centralized repository of information for the residents, visitors, and curious onlookers of Ewa.

With unparalleled explosive growth over the last 15 years, the Ewa Plain has been transformed into a diverse ethnosphere of people, residential development, and associated businesses.

With new houses, new schools, and new businesses, the sense of community has dramatically changed.  Faced with increased traffic, new roads, and literally thousands of new residents, Ewa is rapidly becoming the epicenter of a long-awaited new trend in Hawaii – the “Second City Concept.”

The idea of a Second City was to significantly reduce the need for commuting (and the associated traffic congestion) by moving and/or growing commercial, government and other facilities closer to where residents live in our fast-growing Ewa and Kapolei areas.

Here we are, some 20-30 years after the notion was initially conceptualized, and, despite significant growth in the Ewa and Kapolei areas, traffic continues to be a substantial challenge for all of Hawaii’s drivers, not just for those of us on the West Side.

Perhaps the jury is still out on whether or not the (vastly) over-budget rail project will do much to solve the traffic problem.  But one thing is for sure…

This reason this website is here is… ewa4ewa

One community.  One voice.  One place.  YOUR community. YOUR voice.  OUR place.

Did You Know?

Before Ewa Beach became a town and city, it was a plantation farm when Hawaiʻi was under the rule of Queen Liliʻuokalani. Throughout the twentieth century, Ewa Beach has played a very influential role in Hawaii's culture, economy, and politics.  As we traverse the next 5 years, The Ewa Plain is expected to continue growing as the Ho‘opili Project begins to take shape.
