Here is the verbiage (if you prefer to copy and paste the information yourself):
Dear _____________________:
As a resident of this great state of Hawaii, I am disappointed, disenchanted, and shocked at the current conditions of the sports facilities at James Campbell High School in Ewa Beach.
As Honolulu Civil Beat recently reported, “Without an athletic locker room, the girls at James Campbell High School who play after-school sports are forced to get creative. They change clothes in school restrooms, empty classrooms or sometimes on the bleachers outside as teammates provide cover. They lug their heavy sports bags during the day or convince a teacher to let them store their gear in a classroom.” (1)
As a legislator for this great state of Hawaii, you (and your colleagues) are responsible for ensuring our schools are not only adequately funded, but are also purposefully guided by the Department of Education to ensure a safe, healthy passage through high school.
As a resident of Hawaii, I expect you and your colleagues to do something about the unacceptable conditions at James Campbell High School - now. Specifically:
Use your voice and vote as an elected official to fund projects requested by the Principal of JCHS, the Campbell-Kapolei Complex Area Superintendent, the Ewa Neighborhood Board, Mr. Guy Leopard, and other interested stakeholders.
As Honolulu Civil Beat states, “Teeming with close to 3,200 students as the state’s largest public school, Campbell High hasn’t had a girls’ athletic locker room since it opened in 1962.” (2)
As a resident for our great state, I encourage you and other legislators to take a profound interest in our state’s largest high school. With 3,000+ students, JCHS has an outsized number of students who represent our state. Does that mean ANYTHING to you?
If it DOES mean something to you, I respectfully ask that you use your voice and vote as an elected official to fund the projects requested by the interested stakeholders of the Ewa and West-Oahu community.
If you want more information, feel free to visit www.ewa4ewa.com ; the information is shockingly clear.
With aloha… mahalo for your service,
